Dear Clients,
At Weber Accounting & Tax Services, we want to keep you informed about important tax law
changes that may affect your take-home pay and future tax filings.
A new federal tax law — commonly referred to as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — has
officially passed and includes significant tax relief for working Americans. These changes apply
beginning with the 2025 tax year.
No Federal Income Tax on Tips
Under the new law, eligible workers who earn tips may deduct qualified tip income on their
federal tax return, up to an annual limit.
What this means:
 Qualified tip income can be deducted when filing your federal return
 This reduces taxable income and overall federal income tax owed
 Social Security and Medicare taxes still apply
 Income limits and eligibility rules apply
This change is especially impactful for workers in service-based industries where tips make up a
large portion of earnings.
No Federal Income Tax on Overtime Pay
The new law also allows a deduction for qualified overtime pay.
Key points:
 Only the overtime premium portion of pay qualifies
 Annual deduction limits apply
 This applies to federal income tax only
 Payroll taxes still apply
These provisions are designed to reward additional work and allow employees to keep more of
what they earn.
When This Takes Effect
These changes apply to tax years 2025 through 2028.
You will see the benefit when filing your 2025 tax return in 2026, assuming you qualify.
