What if retirement is not about stopping anymore?

Do we need to rethink what retirement actually means?

More people are choosing to work beyond traditional retirement age, not because they have to, but because they want to. Part time roles, creative projects, consulting, and volunteering are becoming part of the mix.

If retirement now includes work, travel, purpose, and flexibility, how should we plan for it?

What does that mean for income, healthcare, and long-term goals?

Maybe the question is not when will you retire, but how do you want to live?

Is Full-Time the Only Way to Work?

Remember going into the office five days a week? I remember it too, and I honestly do not know how I did it. That routine feels almost impossible now.

The pandemic shifted everything. Working from home became normal. Hybrid setups became common. That shift changed the way we think about work. Could a similar shift be possible in how much we work?

With new technology, especially artificial intelligence, and a culture that is beginning to prioritize quality of life, the idea of working fewer days or fewer hours is becoming more realistic. This is not just theory. Many of us have already started making the shift.

It can be done. But it takes planning. And that is where I come in.

I recently made the move to part-time work, something I never thought would be possible. It was a huge decision, and I have loved every second of it. I am more productive, happier, and healthier. And while my income has decreased since stepping away from full-time work, careful planning made it possible. It was absolutely the right move for me.

There are many things to consider when thinking about this decision. Questions around income, job structure, and health insurance are real and deserve thoughtful attention. But with the right strategy, you can work through each one and build a plan that fits your life.

If this has been on your mind, let’s talk. I can help you figure out what is possible, what needs to be done, and how to make it work. Financially and practically.

You do not have to figure it out alone.

Market Volatility: What It Means and What to Do

Markets have been volatile lately, and that can feel unsettling. But volatility isn’t new—it’s a normal part of long-term investing.

A few reminders:

1. Volatility doesn’t equal loss;
Markets naturally move up and down. What feels like a setback today often sets the stage for future growth. Every downturn in history has been followed by recovery.

2. Reacting emotionally can hurt more than the drop itself;
Trying to time the market may feel safe, but it often leads to missed opportunities. Staying invested and diversified tends to lead to better outcomes.

3. This is why you have a plan;
A well-built plan anticipates market swings. If your working with me, we’ve accounted for this. Your strategy is built to keep you on track, even in uncertain times.

4. It’s a good time to check in;
Feeling anxious is normal. Let’s talk through what’s happening and make sure your plan still aligns with your goals.

Markets are moving, but your strategy doesn’t have to.

If you have questions or want to review your plan, Let's connect.

Ever wondered when money holds the most value in our lives? According to Bill Perkins' "Die with Zero," it's not just about accumulating wealth for retirement. Instead, the book suggests that our 30s and 40s are prime times to invest in meaningful experiences, as we often have the health and energy to fully enjoy them. While net worth typically peaks in our 60s, waiting until then might mean missing out on adventures that enrich our lives. Perhaps it's time to rethink our financial priorities and focus on creating memories now, rather than postponing joy for later years.

A parent recently told me, “I can’t believe how fast the years went by. Now my kid is a junior, and I feel completely unprepared for college costs.”
Sound familiar? You’re not alone. Most parents underestimate how much they’ll need—or how quickly time flies.
Here’s the truth:
✅ College costs are rising, but you don’t have to go broke paying for it
✅ Small, consistent savings can mean thousands less in student loans
✅ The right plan can help you qualify for more financial aid than you think
The good news? It’s never too late to get on track. Whether your child is in kindergarten or high school, there are smart strategies that can make college more affordable.

A bat and a ball together cost $1.10, and the bat costs $1.00 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?

Many quickly answer 10 cents, but that's incorrect. The correct answer is 5 cents for the ball and $1.05 for the bat, totaling $1.10.

This example, highlighted in Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, Fast and Slow, shows how our first instincts can lead us astray. In investing and retirement planning, it's easy to rely on gut feelings or simple assumptions. But just like with the bat and ball problem, taking a moment to think carefully can make a big difference.

As a financial planner, I'm here to help you navigate these decisions thoughtfully. Together, we can look at your financial situation, consider different scenarios, and create a plan that fits your goals.

Send me a note! I would love to talk more.
