So this year we do not have the help of a CPA, so we won’t be doing taxes. This is the first time in thirty years that we aren’t doing taxes. We will see about next year. We are very busy getting ready for tax season. Our new CPA, Kari Hagan is on board and ready to meet everyone. My son Chris Tselepis is working with us as well as our Client Manager. We at A-1 Accounting are very sad to report the passing of our founder, John Tselepis, CPA. He passed quietly and peacefully on August 8, 2023. We will miss our husband, father, and co-worker very much. John had a huge depth of accounting and tax knowledge. He was sick for several years, yet refused to retire because he loved his job so much.

John and I established A-1 Accounting, Inc. in 1995, and it’s been our passion project for almost 30 years. We were already in final negotiations to bring another high-qualified CPA on board — and now, with the help of our son Chris who joined the business earlier this year, the unique personal touch of A-1 Accounting will continue. We will be sharing our exciting plans for the future as soon as final details are wrapped up.

In the meantime, thanks to all for the outpouring of condolences we’ve received. John was beloved by all who knew him. I for one will miss him dearly.

According to the news, 75% of small businesses applied for the federal Payroll Protection Program loans last month. According to survey results released by the U.S. Census Bureau’s Small Business Pulse Survey, only 38% of those who applied received any money. The Small Business Administration has dispensed over $530 billion in low cost loans.

We are proud to say that with a lot of work and effort, John was able to secure PPP loans for 90% of our business clients. It is very satisfying for us to see our clients’ businesses grow and thrive, so we feel it was well worth the effort for us to help make this happen.
