Please share and repost. I need help from the military community and my fellow Oklahomans. I want to start offering a one-time, free 4-hour cleaning to a different military member or veteran in need each month. I haven't found a way to identify vets who need my services. I'm at a loss on this one, other than I know there has to be a need, and I really want to help. They served our country, now I can help serve them. Thank you. Please share and tag, repost, and any info is greatly appreciated.

Medal of Honor recipient: Sgt. Maj. Thomas “Patrick” Payne, a Ranger assigned to the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Command.

The medal honors Payne’s actions in a daring predawn raid on Oct. 22, 2015. Seeking to rescue 70 Islamic State hostages, American and Kurdish commandos flew in CH-47 Chinook helicopters to the town of Huwija.

Between 10 to 20 Army soldiers, including Payne, maneuvered toward a heavily fortified building, which was partially on fire. The Kurdish commandos were pinned down by the murderous gunfire from ISIS.

ISIS fighters began to detonate their su***de vests, causing the team to withdraw to a new position to enter the building.

Under heavy fire from ISIS fighters, Payne moved to open a fortified door. Payne managed to cut the first lock, but due to the heavy smoke from the fire had to retreat out to get fresh air. Payne re-entered the building to cut off the last lock. Once the door was opened, the commandos escorted about 30 more hostages out of the burning building that was about to collapse and under heavy enemy gunfire.

Payne reentered the building two more times to ensure every hostage was freed. Payne will be awarded the Medal of Honor on Sept 11th 2020.

Military Service Branch: U.S. Army
Medal of Honor Action Date: January 12, 1952
Medal of Honor Action Place: near Ponggilli, Korea

Citation
Cpl. Rosser distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty. While assaulting heavily fortified enemy hill positions, Company L, 38th Infantry Regiment, was stopped by fierce automatic-weapons, small-arms, artillery, and mortar fire. Cpl. Rosser, a forward observer was with the lead platoon of Company L, when it came under fire from two directions. Cpl. Rosser turned his radio over to his assistant and, disregarding the enemy fire, charged the enemy positions armed with only carbine and a gr***de. At the first bunker, he silenced its occupants with a burst from his weapon. Gaining the top of the hill, he killed two enemy soldiers, and then went down the trench, killing five more as he advanced. He then hurled his gr***de into a bunker and shot two other soldiers as they emerged. Having exhausted his ammunition, he returned through the enemy fire to obtain more ammunition and gr***des and charged the enemy bunkers. Although those who attempted to join him became casualties, Cpl. Rosser once again exhausted his ammunition, obtained a new supply, and returning to the hilltop a third time hurled gr***des into the enemy positions. During this heroic action Cpl. Rosser singlehandedly killed at least 13 of the enemy. After exhausting his ammunition, he accompanied the withdrawing platoon, and though himself wounded, made several trips across open terrain still under enemy fire to help remove other men injured more seriously than himself. This outstanding soldier's courageous and selfless devotion to duty is worthy of emulation by all men. He has contributed magnificently to the high traditions of the military service.

You wouldn't know it to look at him, but the little old man in the center of this photo was one of the toughest Jarheads ever.

In 1942 when he was only 14, Jacklyn "Jack" Lucas enlisted in the Marine Corps after convincing the recruiter he was 17.

Posted to a depot unit at Pearl Harbor, Jack was bored and wanted action, so in January of 1945, he rolled up a combat uniform under his arm, sneaked out of camp, and stowed away aboard a Naval Transport that was taking 1st Battalion, 26th , 5th Marine Division to Iwo Jima.

Not knowing what to do with him, the Marine battalion commander busted Jack one rank, then assigned him as a rifleman to C Company. A few days later, Jack turned 17.

The day after landing on , Jack dove on top of one Japanese gr***de and then pulled another beneath him. The blast ripped through his body but saved his comrades.

It took 21 surgeries to save him, and for the rest of his life, he carried in his body more than 200 large pieces of shrapnel.

On October 5th, 1945, Jack Lucas received the from President Harry Truman in a ceremony on the White House lawn. He is the youngest Marine ever to receive the nation's highest honor.
