đźš— Tax Tip for My Business Owners & Self-Employed Friends!

The IRS has officially increased the standard mileage rate effective July 1, 2026 due to rising fuel costs.

That means 2026 now has two different mileage rates:

📍 January 1 – June 30: 72.5¢ per business mile
📍 July 1 – December 31: 76¢ per business mile

If you use your personal vehicle for business, make sure you’re keeping an accurate mileage log. When tax season comes around, using the correct rate for the correct time period could make a difference in your deduction.

As tax laws continue to change, I’ll continue sharing updates to help keep everyone informed. 💛

How to Access Your IRS Transcript to Check Refund Dates

If you want to check the status of your tax refund, obtaining your IRS transcript is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Log into Your IRS Account: Start by visiting irs.gov and logging into your individual account. If you do not have an ID.me account, you'll need to create one.

2. Access Tax Records: Once you are logged in, navigate to the "View Tax Records" section.

3. View Transcript: Click on "View Transcript." You'll find your transcripts categorized, and you want to select the Account Transcript. This option allows you to view it in either English or Spanish.

4. Look for Code 846: Within your transcript, find Code 846. This code indicates that your refund has been approved, and it will provide a date associated with your refund.

Important Reminder: As your tax professional, I can help you interpret your transcript. Keep in mind that the date listed may simply be a placeholder. For instance, I have clients with refund dates of March 9 who already have pending deposits.

If you have further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out!
