If you already have an account set up on IRS.GOV, then great.

But if you don’t, please do that. It is important to have an account set up so you can not only get the transcripts but also check on your child tax credit information and stimulus check amounts.

Especially important for self-employed: to verify all 1099’s received so you include all your income in your tax return.

Only you can set up your account. If you are filing: married filing jointly, your spouse needs to set up their own account. You can not see information on your spouse through your account.

You can do this either on your smartphone or computer. It is easier on the phone since they sometimes require you to take a selfie and upload it. Takes about 15-20 minutes to set up this account and it is very beneficial.
