It's been a busy season here at Conquering Chaos! Lot's of exciting things happening! Business is great. New learning opportunities. New teaching opportunities. Always growing/expanding in different ways.

I am excited the spring is around the corner and that we'll be out of official tax season before you know it!

Next month will be my 7th year in business! It's almost hard to believe in some aspects, yet feels like forever in others. I am so blessed by those who entrust me with their books. With over 30 years (I am aging myself) in finance roles, I still learn/grow every day. I never want to be stagnant. My inquiring mind never turns off. It has served me well!

It's been busy here at Conquering Chaos LLC. No signs of slowing down. I am blessed with an abundance of work, with some wonderful clients. I had a newly referred potential future client reach out yesterday, I have a meeting with on Sunday.

My husband and I are celebrating 13 years of marriage this weekend. We're really enjoying our new role as grandparents to our granddaughter.

I am running for commissioner in our town. I have been involved with town politics the past couple years. I figure I can be an asset to my town with my financial background.

Life is good and blessed!

It's not often these days I have an opening for new clientele. However, after this week, I have decided I truly want to replace a problem client. My husband was witness to some things this past week and said, "Kim, just be done with them."

I have been blessed to have all but that one client that appreciates and respects me and my hard work. I have dealt with it for a few years now and I just don't want to continue working for them. I started my business so I could pick and choose who I do/don't work for and not be stuck in dysfunctional work relationships.

So, if you know of someone looking for 10-15 hours a week in bookkeeping needs please keep me in mind.

I do have a couple leads already who have reached out, but I am not sure how serious they are at this point.

Today, I head home from a family beach vacation, feeling refreshed, even though I worked every day, because my clients businesses don't stop just because I am on vacation.

6 YEARS!!!

I literally can't believe it's been 6 years since I started up Conquering Chaos, LLC. I love my job(s), my clients and all the wonderful things that come along with being a small business owner (except paying my own health insurance 😂). None of it would be possible without the support of my wonderful clients, most of whom I gained through word of mouth referrals. I have done very little marketing, because fortunately I really haven't needed to.

Quite a few weeks ago, it was suggested that I apply for a paid position, which pays decent, but I just couldn't walk away from this business. I have worked hard, learned a ton (I thought I knew a lot when I started), and thoroughly enjoy what I do. I don't forget the times I couldn't say this, so I never lose appreciation for this journey.

Thanks to ALL who have been a part of my journey and contributed to my success!

Life is busy, both personally and professionally, so I don't post as often as I would like. I have been working hard for my existing clients, and scheduling meetings with potential new clients. I am very blessed that the majority of my new business comes via recommendation ❤️.

I am continuing to work alongside fellow residents in my town for a future run for town council, later this year. This is a new world for me, which I am navigating each day, and learning as I go. This is not a capacity I ever saw myself in, but I am a "fixer" by nature, and when I see something broken, I can't help but to try to fix it.

I am also gearing up to be a first time Grandma (Lolli). I am over the moon to meet my granddaughter in the coming days (yes, literally in just days...she's due Saturday).

While life is busy, it's also exciting/fullfilling, in so many ways. I am thankful for those who entrust me with their business needs, and financial wellbeing.

This week has been particularly busy, as I have had commitments every evening, and Thursday I have FIVE appointments/meetings throughout the day/evening, so that will be fun 😂.

I SO appreciate all the support I receive, both personally, and professionally. I couldn't do it without you all 🫶.

It's been a super busy time here at Conquering Chaos, LLC. Business is busy (for that I am thankful). I have also added another task to my plate. I have decided to run for town council in Greensboro, come October. I have always preached to be the change you wish to see, so here I am....doing the dang thing...

In doing so, I have been working along side fellow residents, to review financial data/decisions made by our current council (who have no background in finance). Water/sewer has been a lot of my focus, as well as a magnitude of other concerns, including, but not limited to budgeting.

Our town has been screaming for open communication and transparency from our local government for at least as long as I've lived here...since late 2017. However, it's essentially been the same individuals circling the bowl for years now, so there had been no movement toward satisfying the public pleas. Therefore, I issued a PIA for a years worth of zoom recordings, for Town Council Meetings, which I successfully obtained. I then created a YouTube channel for the residents, so they can go back and watch meetings they were unable to attend in person or go back and watch after the fact, in order to stay informed. Zoom is no longer an option, due to a zoom bomb situation, which is under federal investigation, so I am also recording the meetings myself now. I also created a new town group on Facebook, to get information out to residents that pertains to our town or county.

I am requesting/having meetings with town employees, to get a deeper understanding of the responsibilities/duties of the council members, and that of the town employees.

I will also be attending other neighboring town council meetings, for comparison, as well as public hearings, and a planning and zoning appeals session (regarding solar farming). I have been speaking with council members from other towns, police sheriff's, reporters, etc.

I have been working morning till night as of late. I am trying to get my mind around these things, before welcoming my first grandchild at the end of March.

I never saw myself in a direction of politics, of any kind, if I am being honest. However, the only way things change is if we change them. I am fortunate to work with a group of intelligent, experienced, well rounded individuals, and I am confident we can do great things for our town. Come warmer weather, we will be hosting informational sessions, which I am looking forward to, as our following is growing by the day.

So, this is what the woman behind Conquering Chaos, LLC has been up to....just that - conquering chaos 😂

We made it through January! All 1099 and W-2's were distributed, on time. Tax season has only just begun, so it's a busy time at Conquering Chaos, LLC. Thank God I am a workaholic. I never take for granted that I am blessed with clientele, who sustain my self employment (and entrepreneural) dreams. I love working with mostly other small businesses to ease their financial stress.

I been in this profession, in some capacity, since I was 18, and am getting ready to turn 48, and have since established experience in multiple different industries, I have considered branching out into a form of business consultanting. Essentially, assisting companies with implementing paperless systems and streamlining their processes. There truly is a work around for most businesses.

In addition, I have been taking on another "project" the past few months, which I never thought would interest me....local government (town) politics. I live in a very small town of roughly 1,900 residents. I realized, after speaking with other town residents and attending town council meetings, that there are folks running this town into the ground, by making financial decisions, with no financial experience. I felt it is my duty, as a resident, and as someone with extensive experience to get more involved. This year, I will be compaigning for an upcoming open council seat. I am doing everything within my power to implement the change I wish to see. We've established a great team, with many supporters.

In the meantime, I have launched a YouTube channel (TOGMDFCM), so that other fellow residents can educate themselves and get more involved, by watching the town council meetings, which they may have previously missed and until recently, had no way to go back and watch, without submitting a PIA request to the town. As time has allowed, I have also been submitting additional PIA requests and obtaining financial documents, which I am reviewing and auditing, in regard to our water/sewer bills, town budgets and revenue/expenditures. I also launched a new Facebook group (Truth Social (Town of Greensboro MD)), so that town residents can openly discuss all things town related, express concerns, and give input amongst themselves.

So, I don't get the opportunity to post as often on my page as I'd like, but these are just some things keeping my plate full these days. In my personal life, my family is also preparing for our first grandchild, a granddaughter, next month. We are super excited for her!
