I am incredibly honored to have received a $5,000 grant from Pacific Life to support Integrated Health Services (IHS), an organization that is near and dear to my heart.
Integrated Health Services (IHS) was founded in 2007 to provide critical health services to vulnerable populations, in underserved and provider shortage areas. The SBHCs administered by IHS in East Hartford, Bloomfield, and Newington are licensed by the Department of Public Health to administer comprehensive services, including behavioral health, medical care, and dental care.
SBHCs remove barriers to care that students and families might otherwise encounter including transportation issues, loss of school/work time for appointments, and a lack of qualified health care practitioners.
Access to these services improves overall health and academic outcomes for students and allow parents the opportunity to maintain economic stability. All services are provided with no out-of-pocket costs to families. Sustainability of programs are heavily reliant on grants, such as those issued by Pacific Life Foundation.
