Quarterly State Income Taxes
If you are not a salaried employee or if you have freelance income, you probably make quarterly income tax payments. If so, your next one is due Jan. 16.

Because that payment is for the fourth quarter of this year (even though you don’t have to pay it until 16 days into next year), it’s not technically a prepayment if you pay it this year.

So the new bill’s prohibition on prepayment of next year’s state income taxes does not keep you from making that fourth-quarter state income tax payment on Dec. 31 or before. If you do that and your overall tax situation allows it, you can deduct the payment on your 2017 tax return.

The federal tax filing season begins Monday, January 23, 2017. Our current clients can anticipate receiving their tax appointment letter and checklist/organizer at least one month before their scheduled appointment. If this year you would like to have a telephone consultation don't delay in sending us an email to [email protected] to receive a secure link for providing tax documents to us (tax documents must be received at least 1 day before your scheduled appointment.) And remember if you refer a new client receive a $25.00 discount on your tax preparation service fee (restrictions apply - referral must have taxes done prior to current client receiving discount and referral must be a new client).

BE AWARE! There is an increase in boggess calls I myself received one this morning stating I was being sued by IRS. If you receive a phone call and suspect it as boggess go to irs.gov and search "REPORT SCAM" follow instructions to report.
