The recent passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OB3) has understandably generated concern and questions. We want to assure our clients that we are actively reviewing the bill and evaluating its potential impact on taxpayers.

At this time, we kindly ask that you refrain from calling or messaging the office with OB3-related questions. As with all major legislation, meaningful guidance takes time to develop. We are committed to providing clear, accurate updates. As promised during tax season, please watch for our newsletter in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please do not make hasty changes to your situation. We’ve already seen a great deal of misinformation circulating, and we strongly encourage you not to make decisions based on rumors or speculation.

Thank you for your patience and trust as we continue to navigate these developments with care and expertise.

As of 2/25 we are no longer taking new tax clients for the 4/15 deadline. We will review the handful of inquiry forms still in the inbox, but we will not resume accepting new clients until early May in order to focus on preparation for our current client list. If you still want to work with us for tax preparation, you can submit a Client Inquiry Form and file a tax extension with the IRS. We'll contact you in May.

We are still accepting Client Inquiry forms for new business subscription clients who are interested in our business services and will continue to review those throughout tax season.

Thank you!

Quickbooks Desktop Users - Time is running out!

If you've been using Desktop and you've been wanting to update to the newest version, you only have until September 30th to subscribe and update. After September 30th, the desktop version will no longer be for sale and you will only have the option to subscribe to the online version.

Older versions of Quickbooks desktop should still work as long as you don't use bank feeds, payroll, or need technical support. You should be able to use these older versions of the software until they are no longer compatible with your hardware.

However, if you have any issues with the older versions at all, there will be no support for them and you'll have to change over to Quickbooks Online or a different bookkeeping software company after September 30th of this year.

If you need to update/upgrade, now is the time!

08/14/2024

To all WA State Business Owners - DSHS has proposed that small businesses be required to report independent contractors and withhold child support from them. That means that your business would have to collect information from every sole proprietor, single member LLC, and solely owned corporation prior to having them perform work for you so that you could report them as a "New Hire" to DSHS and wait to see if DSHS will send a child support withholding notice before you pay that other small business owner. This, to me, will be an enforcement nightmare. It is already a struggle to get W-9's completed in order to do 1099-NEC's at the end of the year. This would add a whole new complexity. If you think this wouldn't apply to you - it's not just your construction subcontractors you have to report. It is your lawyer, your accountant, your business coach, your continuing education provider, your marketing pro, the photographer who takes pictures for your web site and page, your insurance agent....any service provider that you pay $600 or more that is a sole proprietor, SMLLC, or sole shareholder. This also means that companies will be asking for your personal information to report you to DSHS as well. Read more about this proposal here: https://www.dshs.wa.gov/esa/division-child-support/provide-your-feedback and I highly encourage you to submit your feedback by emailing [email protected]

Provide Your Feedback on Proposed Independent Contractor Reporting The Division of Child Support is considering proposing changes to introduce independent contractor reporting to Washington state, and we are asking for your feedback on our proposal (also known as agency request legislation). One of my absolute favorite days of the year is receiving the Thank You cards from the kids at Peninsula High School and Gig Harbor High School for the scholarships we donate. It never fails to bring a smile to my face. Go out into the world kids and do big things. I can't wait to see you post pictures like this one day too!
