The IRS has officially extended this year’s tax day for individuals to May 17, 2021. The federal income tax payment deadline is also extended to May 17. Penalties and interest will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of May 17, 2021.
Even with this new deadline, we urge you to file as soon as possible, especially if you are expecting a refund.
This extension only applies to individual form 1040 federal tax returns. It does not affect the following:
-Estimated tax payments due April 15th
- State tax filings and payments (vary state to state)
-Corporations due April 15th
