Accounting Systems is pleased to announce the addition of TANYA HOWARD, CPA to its staff. Tanya brings with her extensive experience with Quickbooks and income tax preparation for businesses, both small and large, as well as individuals.

For the past 4 years, Tanya was self-employed handling both tax and bookkeeping clients in Iowa prior to her move back to Galesburg. Additionally, Tanya has worked with HNI Corporation in Muscatine, Iowa and Maytag Refrigeration in Galesburg, Illinois.

Tanya and her husband, Bob, recently purchased a home at Soangetaha. Bob is President and Chief Banking Officer for CBI Bank & Trust for Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. They have two adult children, Bryce and Ellie, who both currently reside in Wisconsin. In her spare time, Tanya loves to golf and travel with her family.

You will be heavily involved in the day-to-day and month-end accounting activities for numerous clients, including AP, bank reconciliations, journal entries, production of financial statements, and individual income tax preparation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who has some experience with bookkeeping and accounting but is looking to learn and grow in a professional environment.

General, Recurring Duties And Responsibilities

• Record and pay client invoices within QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online
• Prepare journal entries
• Reconcile balance sheet, credit card and bank account statements
• Prepare adjusting entries and accruals
• Ensure timely payment of retail sales tax and payroll tax deposits
• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Prepare individual income tax returns
• Wear many hats – We are a small staff and we split many duties

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting with accounting and/or bookkeeping experience
• Experience in preparation of individual income tax returns preferred or a willingness to learn a must
• Advanced computer skills with an emphasis on Excel
• Experience with Quickbooks or Quickbooks Online
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently
