Still needing to find a local tax preparer? We can help!

We know that tax preparation services in the area have dwindled down, making it hard to find an available tax preparer. In an effort to ensure service to existing clients, we felt we had to turn away new clients at the beginning of the year, in order to maintain timely turnarounds and quality service to our loyal client base.

However, great news is Fifth Street Financial has been training new recruits, in an effort to be able to meet the need we've seen in our community. We are now accepting clients for our drop-off services only, as face to face appointments have filled up.

If you would like to drop off your tax documents, we are comitted to having them complete in a 2-week time frame in most cases. Feel free to contact us at 573-642-5454 with any questions you may have!

Update: Position filled. Thanks for the help!

Fifth Street Financial is looking to hire someone to add to our office this tax season. It’s a clerical position, 30-40 hours per week. Duties would include greeting clients, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, scanning documents, filing, etc.

Must have good customer service skills, be able to work in a fast paced environment, and be able to work 4-5 days per week through mid-April. The position is temporary, as tax season only lasts a few months but there’s a possibility that it could extend past tax season with fewer hours per week.

To find out when you will get your stimulus payment you can use this link to the IRS website. You click the "Get My Payment" button (Blue Square) and plan to wait 5-10 minutes to get to the next step.

You can also utilize this same feature to choose to give your direct deposit info so that you receive the money quicker than waiting for a check. You only need to do this if you didn't have a refund direct deposited for 2018 or 2019 tax return.

**REMEMBER** the IRS will not call you, email, or text so don't give out any of your bank information to any source besides this. The IRS will send you a letter 15 days after depositing your money, to your last known address, to inform you that a payment has been made

Use Get My Payment to get information about your payment status and payment type.

Recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file to receive an Economic Impact Payment. It’s automatic. More information from IRS at www.irs.gov/coronavirus

Know anyone age 70.5 or over who has to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from their retirement/IRAs???

Part of the Stimulus Bill deals with this topic and waives the requirement for 2020.

This could help in 2 ways: 1) if you don't need the money and don't withdraw it, you have less taxable income. 2) you are keeping money in your investment account to help grow as the stock market climbs back up.

IRA retirement account expert Ed Slott says the CARES Act waives required minimum distributions due in 2020 so you may owe less taxes next year.
