What is one thing you have hustled for in your life in order to be able to buy it? I wanted a prom dress that looked like Belle’s from Beauty and the Beast 🤣, and I made sure I found a way to get it (swipe left for pic!).
I’m not really sure at what point in history it became noble to say “I can’t afford it.”
We say it as if there is a limit to our money, a defined end to how much we can make or have.
But that’s not true. You can have anything you really want, and I’m going to guess you actually even have evidence of this in your own life.
Have you ever had a time in your life (as an adult or even as a kid) that you wanted something SOOOO badly, that you went out and found a way to get it? You ate out less, picked up a side job, sold random stuff out of your house?
When you tell yourself you can’t afford something, you automatically feel restricted. When you do that over and over again, all of a sudden you feel so restricted you begin to feel like you NEVER get to buy anything. When you feel like you never get to buy anything, do you know what you end up doing? Buying a bunch of junk you don’t really want anyways.
How do you avoid this feeling of restriction? You remind yourself that you are 100% in control of what you can have in your life. You can choose, or not choose, to afford anything you really want.
Instead of “I can’t afford it” ask yourself, “HOW can I afford it?” Then figure out what you’d have to do or give up to get it, and decide whether you really want it or not. Allow yourself to make that decision instead of giving your power up to start with.
Because at the end of the day, it’s really just a choice. A decision you are 100% in control of.
