Why We Do What We Do

My desire to lead the fight against poverty, protect taxpayer rights, and advance the financial interests of small businesses and business owners led to Bowman Tax & Financial.

I believe “poverty is not just the lack of financial resources, but a fatal state of mind which drives destructive fiscal behavior.”

A person can have limitless financial resources, but, without access to relevant information, professional guidance, and adequate resources, that same person can easily find themselves in a financial crisis such as poverty. During my years of working in the Internal Revenue Service, banking, and financial services, I have seen large numbers of business owners forced to shut down companies because of tax compliance infractions, poor financial management, and common ignorance. In addition to businesses being forced to shut down, policy changes within banking and financial services industry have left many working class families with little to no access to affordable financial planning, professional advice, and fiduciary relationships. Consequently, these families are running out of money.

People need help, banks and financial service organizations are raising prices and increasing minimum investible asset requirements to qualify for a relationship with an in-house licensed Financial Advisor. Because of these ongoing policy changes, many businesses and households are missing out on risk appropriate growth opportunities. Consequently, destroying wealth building, legacy, and retirement saving efforts. As a result, these people are left to “go at it alone,” or seek advice from non-fiduciary professionals which in many instances have led to gross financial losses due to inadequate financial planning and management, abusive practices, or more severely, criminal acts.

As if the changes in financial services are not enough, America decides to overhaul its tax policy.

Because of the challenges associated with the recent tax overhaul, those susceptible to tax audits and IRS collection efforts realize they are at risk of tax liens, levies, and property seizure, to say the least. In many instances, minor avoidable mishaps result in serious IRS trouble, triggering a series on unfortunate events leading to financial disruption, or complete financial ruin. But, sometimes, fraud and ill intent are responsible, providing the IRS and state tax authorities with a strong basis to hold offenders accountable.
