H&R Block and TurboTax fascinate me. I understand if you're an employee with a simple return why this may very well be the right choice for your return, but if you're self-employed? I don't get it.

I'm consistently finding missed opportunities on returns prepared by/through each firm. If you're an employee, they provide a really great, inexpensive service. if you're self-employed, though, their guarantees mean virtually nothing.

I'll prove it to you, if you'd like: If you used H&R Block or TurboTax last year (2018 or 2019) for your return, I'll review your return with you (no charge, just some good old-fashioned tax fun!) for accuracy and opportunity. You may be surprised what you find.

The demand is definitely growing for an increase in tax rates, but it seems to be focused on corporations and high-earners: Higher corporate income tax rates, revisions to the estate, or wealth tax, and higher individual income tax rates, particularly at the higher end of the spectrum.

Big names on Wall Street are recognizing this as an inevitability.
