In our attempt to let our MasterTax family know what's going on, we've posted the following that we received from the National Association of Tax Preparer regarding the new stimulus plan that was recently passed. The text is verbatim from their newsletter. We are strongly advised NOT to file amended returns at this time. Once the instructions and software packages are updated, we will post further information on how to proceed. Thanks. MasterTax

IRS Provides American Rescue Plan Guidance

The IRS is reviewing implementation plans for the newly enacted American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Additional information about a new round of economic impact payments, the expanded child tax credit, including advance payments, and other tax provisions will be made available by them as soon as possible.
The IRS strongly urges taxpayers not to file amended returns related to the new legislative provisions or take other unnecessary steps at this time.
The IRS will provide taxpayers with additional guidance on those provisions that could affect their 2020 tax return, including the retroactive provision that makes the first $10,200 of 2020 unemployment benefits nontaxable. For those who haven't filed yet, the IRS will provide a worksheet for paper filers and work with software industry to update current tax software so that taxpayers can determine how to report their unemployment income on their 2020 tax return. For those who received unemployment benefits last year and have already filed their 2020 tax return, the IRS emphasizes they should not file an amended return at this time, until the IRS issues additional guidance.
Also, the IRS has released IR-2021-54, which notes that the third economic impact payment will begin to be deposited over the next week. The third round of stimulus payments, those authorized by the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, differs from the earlier payments in several respects:
• The third stimulus payment will be larger for most people. Most families will get $1,400 per person, including all dependents claimed on their tax return. Typically, this means a single person with no dependents will get $1,400, while a family of four (married couple with two dependents) will get $5,600.
• Unlike the first two payments, the third stimulus payment is not restricted to children under 17. Eligible families will get a payment based on all of their qualifying dependents claimed on their return, including older relatives like college students, adults with disabilities, parents and grandparents.
NATP is closely monitoring the details of this news and will be in communication with our members with additional guidance and resources as the IRS releases it.

Good morning everyone!

We hope all of you had a Happy New Year!!

As we get ready for another great tax season, we would like to take a moment to inform you of a couple things:

- For your safety, we are taking the exact same precautions as last season

- We will be here to offer the same in-person service that you have always experienced

We make every attempt to follow distancing during our in-person services and limit the number of clients inside the office to the minimum necessary by family. Masks are advised but optional for clients with their own private health needs and conditions. We let you make that choice. For those who would prefer contact-free service, we offer e-mail, outside drop-off and pick-up box, FAX or US Mail provided service. We encourage anyone wishing to avoid the in-person services to check out one of those options.

If you have any questions, regarding our operations and options for contact-less return prep, please feel free to give us a call today (414-581-0090)!

We look forward to serving you again soon!

Hi FaceBook friends. Just an update letting everyone know that we are still processing returns, but with a small twist. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we have stopped all in-office face-to-face for the time being. We are utilizing a drop box, marked “MasterTax Drop-Off” located by the front door and are asking our customers to drop their information off to us using that.

Please be sure to include your name and a phone number so we can contact you if we have questions and when we are finished.

(To help with this, there is also a clear plastic box with pens and drop-off sheets for you to provide this information adjacent to the drop-off box)

For security, we ask that you either give us a call or ring the doorbell when you drop your information off so we can get it inside right away. We'll complete your return and let you know when it's done.

Picking up a completed return is pretty much the same; let us know when you arrive, we put the completed return and signature page in the box. Leave the signed form and payment in the drop off box and take your completed return home.

For those who would prefer another way, we can also receive information via FAX or e-mail (.PDF files please) and them mail them back via USPS or e-mail to you when finished.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

We'll get through this.

Thanks!
