BALTIMORE, MD (12/4/19) —LSU Tigers, Joe Burrow has won the 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. and A. O. Smith Corporation to the nation’s top quarterback who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement.
Burrow on the verge of becoming the most decorated offensive player in LSU history as he’s set numerous school records as a senior in 2019. Joe led LSU to a perfect 12-0 mark and a No. 1 national ranking during the regular season. First player in SEC history to throw for 4,000 yards and 40 TDs in the same season, broke the SEC single-season passing yards record in 2019 with 4,614 and tied the SEC single-season mark for passing TDs with 44. Joe owns numerous LSU records, including passing yards, passing TDs, total offense, and completions, led LSU to eight wins over Top 10 teams during his career, the most of any quarterback in school history. Currently 22-3 as LSU’s starting quarterback and is only the second quarterback in LSU history to guide the Tigers to back-to-back 10-wins seasons, ranking No. 5 in LSU history in passing yards with 7,260 and did it in just two years. Joe completed 20+ passes in 15-straight games, the first quarterback in school history with four or more, and owns 12, 300-yard career passing games and ten in 2019, which are both the most in school history.
Candidates for the Golden Arm Award – which has been presented at the end of each college football season since 1987 – must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class. In addition to the accomplishments on the field, candidates are judged on their character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, teamwork and leadership qualities.

Top Five Finalists named for 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award®

BALTIMORE, MD (Nov. 15, 2019) - The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award® Presented by A.O. Smith Corporation has narrowed its 2019 season watch list to five of the nation’s top
quarterbacks.
The Golden Arm Award Selection Committee selected the remaining nominees based on player performance on-and-off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.
After 11 weeks of play, the five finalists for the 2019 Golden Arm Award are:
• Joe Burrow, LSU - Burrows has completed 236 of 299 passes for 3,198 yards (79% completion rate) throwing for 33 touchdowns with just four interceptions, and a QB rating
of 92.6.
• Justin Herbert, Oregon – Herbert has completed 200 of 288 passes for 2,329 yards (69% completion rate) throwing for 24 touchdowns with just two interceptions, and a QB rating of 78.1.
• Tyler Huntley, Utah- Huntley has completed 141 of 191 passes for 2,062 yards, (74% completion rate) throwing for 11 touchdowns with just one interception, and a QB rating
of 89.5
• Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma- Hurts has completed 151 of 206 passes for 2,742 yards, (73% completion rate) throwing for 24 touchdowns with just four interceptions, and a QB rating
of 94.1
• Brady White, Memphis- White has completed 164 of 243 passes for 2,511 yards (68% completion rate) throwing for 23 touchdowns with just four interceptions, and a QB rating
of 74.8

The namesake of the Golden Arm Award has a storied history. Johnny Unitas was an 18-year veteran of the NFL, who played his collegiate career at the University of Louisville before joining
the Baltimore C**ts in 1958. His career passing figures include 2,830 pass completions for 40,239 yards, 290 touchdowns and throwing a touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games.
Unitas was inducted into Pro Football’s Hall of Fame in 1979. The Hall of Fame, in commemorations of the NFL’s 25th, 50th, and 75th anniversaries selected Unitas as the top quarterback of all-time. In turn-of-the-century listings, he was named to Sports Illustrated’s list of top 10 athletes, Time Magazine’s list of 10 most influential athletes, and ESPN’s series on the 50 greatest athletes of the century.

BALTIMORE, MD. (December 3, 2018) - Washington State University quarterback Gardner Minshew, II has won the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award® Presented by A. O. Smith. The prestigious award is given annually to the nation’s top quarterback who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement.

Minshew has completed 433 of 613 passes for a total of 4,477 yards (71% completion rate), throwing for 36 touchdowns with just nine interceptions and a QB rating of 148.4. Minshew has endeared himself to Cougar fans across the country, not only because of the “Minshew Mustache”, but his penchant for late game heroics. He has led WSU on game-winning, fourth quarter drives against Utah, Stanford and California. In the fourth quarter this season, Minshew has completed 92 of 127 passes (72% completion rate) for 1,169 yards, 13 touchdowns and no interceptions.

OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY MASON RUDOLPH WINS THE
2017 JOHNNY UNITAS GOLDEN ARM AWARD

Oklahoma State University quarterback Mason Rudolph is the winner of the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc.

The native of Rock Hill, South Carolina has quarterbacked OSU to a 31-9 record as a starter and has led the Cowboys to 10 victories in games in which they trailed during the second half. Rudolph has beat every team in the Big 12 during his career and he holds no fewer than 50 school records. He enters the bowl game with 13,267 career passing yards, a mark that ranks fourth in Big 12 history.

Rudolph hit a career mark of 323.6 passing yards per game which is third in Big 12 history. The senior ranks in the top three among the FBS active career leaders in passing yards per completion, passing yards per attempt, total passing yards, passing yards per game, total offense and total offense yards per play. He led the FBS with 4,553 passing yards and 379.4 passing yards per game during the regular season. The 22-year-old not only has impressive stats on the field, but he is also Oklahoma State’s most active player in community service activities.

Former Baltimore C**ts center, Bill Curry, will be in attendance to honor Rudolph and his achievements. Curry has built his career on being a strong leader and effective communicator. His NFL career included two Super Bowl titles and a stint as President of the NFL Players Association.
