As of today I can file free of charge Economic Impact Payment (EIP) returns.

The IRS will begin processing returns 1/28/19. The shutdown will not stop refunds.

There is a $10,000 cap on state and local taxes for the 2018 tax year.
The standard deduction has been raised.
This means most people will not need itemize their state and local taxes in 2018.
Pay your Real estate and property taxes before 12/31/17 if at all possible to take advantage of a double savings on this filing years itemize deductions.

The individual mandate will be gone once Trump signs this tax cut into law. This means if you do not have health insurance you will no longer be penalized.
