We need pajamas!! Did you know that the majority of children coming into foster care come only with the clothes on their backs?! We have found a great sale on pajamas at Children’s Place. They’re on sale for $10 per set! Our goal is to be able to purchase 100 pairs of pajamas so that we can stock all of our foster closets with all sizes of pajamas. Each $10 donation will provide a pair of new pajamas to a child coming into care who has been abused or neglected, giving them hope and comfort.
Here’s what one foster mom said about being able to get pajamas for these kids:
“I received a call about taking in a temporary placement one after noon. As often happens, she showed up with zero clothes. She woke up crying the first 3 nights and just didn’t sleep well. We went to the closet a few days later and we were able to get some clothes, and also a couple sets of pajamas. When we got home I had to explain why she could not wear the pajamas to school. She had no idea what they were. She just knew they had princesses on them. She had no idea what pajamas were for. After she slept in them she was so shocked and told me how good she slept in her pajamas. But the next night she had an accident, and was so upset because now she soiled her pajamas. When we showed her she had a spare she was over filled with joy. She looks forward to the bedtime routine now and has not had any trouble sleeping since. As a foster parent one thing I have learned is that when these kids come to us many of them have no bedtime routine. I have had some who have never had a sheet on their bed or “special bed time clothes”. When they see a routine of bath and special clothes for sleeping and a sheet on the bed and their clean blanket, I have found that bed time becomes much much easier for those kids.”
