The S&P 500 recently completed a nine-week winning streak — something we haven’t seen in 75 years.

While that’s certainly notable, the more interesting story may be what has historically happened next. Previous streaks of this length have generally been followed by positive returns over the months that followed, even though short-term volatility often remained.

Markets have a way of reminding us that momentum can be powerful, but patience is usually even more important.

A good financial plan isn’t just about the pieces.

It’s about understanding what those pieces are meant to carry: your family, your future, your goals, and the life you’re working toward.

The details matter. But so does the bigger picture.

Retirement is all about timing.

Negative returns early in retirement, especially when combined with regular withdrawals, can drain savings faster, leaving you potentially without or with less retirement income. Consider two retirees with the same investment portfolios. Each begins with the same investment, annual withdrawal, and period but faces different market conditions when they start taking retirement income.

It’s not just about the plan. It’s how it plays out.

There’s something special about junior golf and this program continues to show why!

It’s been so meaningful to continue supporting the District 6 golf program and seeing the impact it’s having on these students. Opportunities like this go well beyond the course.

Grateful for the teachers, coaches, and parents who make it all happen—and for the players who make it so fun to follow. ⛳👏

Costs don’t stay the same.

Food, transportation, utilities—they all tend to rise over time. What often gets overlooked is how much that adds up, especially in retirement.

Small changes over time can lead to very different outcomes in retirement. It’s one of the things we plan for. 🧭

If your 1099-DIV has a big number in Box 2a (Capital Gain Distributions)… you might be paying taxes on gains you didn’t even know about - and had no control over. Let that sink in.

We’re seeing this with multiple investors using advisors who don’t understand the tax implications of the investment decisions they are making for/with clients. Be it a compensation thing, a lack of understanding by a “professional”, or handcuffed by their Series 6 license, it’s costing their clients dearly.

Capital Gain Distributions (also known as phantom gains or embedded gains) are common in portfolios heavily invested in mutual funds. Here are a few examples of what we mean.

Most financial decisions happen by pulling clubs that don’t work together.

A Titleist Driver for Wealth Management.
A TaylorMade Driver for Tax Strategy.
And a Ping Driver for Insurance Planning…possibly still sitting back at the clubhouse.

A good caddie wouldn’t send you out on the course with that setup - and you likely wouldn’t have a chance to shoot your best round.

Don’t head out for the round of your life without a coordinated approach. And when you make the turn, make sure you bring more than just that Arnold Palmer and Snickers to finish the round strong.

The team at AGR, CPAGR, & IGR can help you see the course, avoid the hazards, and pull the right club when the moment calls for it. Because the best chance to execute isn’t just about the club you use - it’s about having the right caddie beside you.

One team. One strategy. One complete bag.
It may just lead to something special.

Easter has a way of reminding us that renewal, growth, and new beginnings don’t happen all at once — they unfold over time.

Wishing you a wonderful Easter. 🐣

Markets don’t like uncertainty, and today’s Iran tensions, rising oil prices, and other economic factors are a clear reminder. But pullbacks are normal: the S&P 500’s average intra-year decline is ~13%, even in positive years. Volatility is normal, but oh so very uncomfortable.

While we all wish we had a crystal ball to time market bottoms and record highs, we don’t. That’s why we craft our clients’ portfolios for long-term growth, while staying tactically aware of short-term movements.
