Advance Child Tax Credit Payments - TIPS
This is not like the stimulus payments. It can affect your tax return next year. This is an advance of the child tax credit you normally receive when you file. If you receive payments now, your child tax credit will be reduced by that same amount when you file your taxes next year. You can opt out of receiving the advance payments (see link below). If filing jointly, both parents will need to opt out separately.
