April 15th is one week from today. If you know you are going to owe and would like to file an extension, I want to remind you that extending does not change the due date of payment. Your tax payment is still due on April 15 regardless of whether you file the extension. The extension simply delays the filing deadline until October 15. Penalty for underpayment and interest on the amount due will be retroactively assessed to April 16 when you file your taxes.
