So you’re in the know:

IR-2021-129, June 14, 2021 — The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today unveiled an online Non-filer Sign-up tool designed to help eligible families who don’t normally file tax returns register for the monthly Advance Child Tax Credit payments, scheduled to begin July 15.

Tax tips to consider this year:

Anyone who is eligible for an Economic Impact Payment but did not get the payments or did not get the full amount, must file a tax return to claim the recovery rebate credit even if they aren't normally required to file.
Unemployment benefits are taxable. People should watch their mail for a Form 1099-G. In some states, people may be able to get their Form 1099-G from the website where they signed up for benefits.
There's a new rule to help people who lost their job or had a change in income in 2020. Filers can use their 2019 earned income to figure their earned income tax credit, if their 2019 earned income was more than their 2020 earned income. This new rule also applies to the additional child tax credit.

To Our Valued Clients:
The Treasury Department has extended the tax filing deadline to July 15, 2020, and we expect this to also include the first quarter 2020 estimated payments due April 15th.
We are continuing to work remotely with limited presence in our office to keep our staff safe and do our part to reduce the spread of the virus until we have better information.
We will continue to prepare and e-file income tax returns that are complete. E-file authorization, delivery and signing will primarily be done electronically.
Mailing tax return hard copies and e-file authorizations will be limited to those clients that do not have the ability to sign electronically. The hard copy mailing of completed returns will be done as we have available staff in the office subject to office closings and US mail service.
Our current plan is to extend all tax returns prior to April 15th, and work to complete final income tax returns by the extended July 15th due date.
We will continue to keep you informed of our office status, the progress of your 2019 return, and other matters as we have more information. We are checking our voicemail and email regularly, so please contact us with any questions or concerns.
As of today, March 23, 2020, our office hours will be 10:00AM to 2:00PM Monday through Thursday, and Saturday for those clients who choose to drop off their return information for completion. Our phones will be answered Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 5:00.
Thank you.
