Medicare Update: GLP‑1 Bridge Program (Starting July 1, 2026)

CMS is launching a temporary GLP‑1 Bridge Program that may give certain Medicare beneficiaries access to specific GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications—like Wegovy or Zepbound—at a reduced cost (around $50). This program is run directly by CMS and is not part of Medicare Advantage or Part D benefits.

Eligibility is determined only through a provider‑submitted prior authorization, and there is no self‑enrollment. Beneficiaries will learn about eligibility through their prescribing provider or pharmacy once CMS approves the request.

If you have questions about whether this program may apply to you, please speak with your prescribing provider. CMS will share official educational materials as they become available.

If you’re planning a summer celebration, you may want to rethink balloons this year. Helium prices have more than doubled since February due to supply disruptions in the Middle East, where much of the world’s helium is produced and shipped.

But balloons are only part of the story. Helium plays a big role behind the scenes — from cooling MRI machines to helping make the chips in our phones and keeping data centers running smoothly. And unlike crops that can be replanted, helium doesn’t regenerate, which means recovery takes years, not months.

For now, streamers, flowers, and other festive decorations might be the easier (and cheaper) way to go. And if anyone asks why there aren’t balloons at the party, you’ll have a fun little helium fact to share. 🎈

Special Enrollment for 2026 health coverage ends June 30!

If you’re under 65 and uninsured, you may qualify for Connecticut’s 2026 Temporary Premium Assistance—but only through Access Health CT. This program can help lower your monthly health insurance costs, and the enrollment window is short.

If you’re unsure whether you qualify, reach out. I can review your situation and help you get answers before the June 30 deadline.

📢 Medicare Update: GLP‑1 Bridge Program (Starts July 1, 2026)

CMS is launching a temporary program that may let eligible Medicare beneficiaries access certain GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications (like Wegovy or Zepbound) for about $50. This is run directly by CMS — not your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan — and it won’t count toward Part D out‑of‑pocket costs.

Quick facts:
• Must have MA‑PD or Part D coverage
• Provider must confirm you meet CMS criteria
• Eligibility is only through a provider‑submitted prior authorization
• No self‑enrollment, and CMS won’t send notices

If you take a GLP‑1 for another condition (like diabetes), that will still run through your Part D plan.

This is not a plan benefit, and our office can’t determine eligibility. Please speak with your prescribing provider if you think this may apply to you.

🧠 Medicare & Working Past 65

More people are working beyond 65, and Medicare decisions can get confusing — but you do have options.

✔️ If your employer has 20+ employees, you can usually delay Part B without penalties. Key word is usually.
✔️ Most people still enroll in Part A, unless they’re contributing to an HSA.
✔️ Sometimes your employer plan is better, sometimes Medicare is — costs and prescriptions matter.
✔️ When you retire, you’ll get an 8‑month Special Enrollment Period with no penalties.
✔️ And you still get choices: Medigap, Medicare Advantage, and Part D.

Working past 65 adds flexibility and complexity. If you want help avoiding penalties and choosing the right path, call 860‑678‑7806 or email anytime.

🛡️ Debunking the Myths: Not All IULs Are Created Equal

If you’ve seen posts telling you to “avoid IULs,” here’s the truth: many of those warnings leave out key facts. Not all Indexed Universal Life policies work the same — and some are designed to solve the very concerns people hear online.

✨ Some IULs offer:
• Guaranteed death benefits to age 120
• Built‑in living benefits for chronic, critical, or terminal illness
• Cash value growth potential with downside protection
• Premium‑recovery options if your needs change

The issue isn’t IULs — it’s misinformation. When structured correctly, an IUL can be a powerful, flexible tool for protection and long‑term planning.

Curious whether an IUL makes sense for you? Reach out anytime.
