Why did one of Jeffrey Epstein's longtime confidants skip his own subpoenaed deposition this week and sue the House Oversight Committee instead of testifying under oath?

Leon Black, co-founder of Apollo Global Management, maintained a social relationship with Jeffrey Epstein for decades and eventually paid him more than $170 million, a sum the Senate Finance Committee says reflected compensation for tax and estate planning advice. That $170 million figure itself only came to light after Finance Committee investigators uncovered previously unknown wire transfers that Apollo's own internal review had missed, showing Black paid Epstein far more than the $158 million the company had originally disclosed.

Black sat for a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee in June. Afterward, the panel issued him two subpoenas demanding a follow-up deposition and additional documents. Rather than appear this week, Black filed a federal lawsuit against the committee and its chairman, Rep. James Comer, asking a court to block the subpoenas. The panel is now weighing whether to hold him in contempt of Congress.

Black also reached a $62.5 million settlement with the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands over his ties to Epstein.

Rep. Dave Min has criticized the committee's reliance on voluntary interviews rather than sworn depositions, warning that the structure has allowed figures like former Attorney General Pam Bondi to decline answering certain questions.

Survivors of Epstein's trafficking operation have spent years waiting for the people who financed and enabled him to face real accountability. Right now, one of his largest known financial backers is fighting in federal court just to avoid answering questions under oath.

???Did you know China didn’t use the mRNA shot for Covid????

China’s mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign relied on inactivated (“killed” or “dead”) whole-virus vaccines, not mRNA. 
The two main shots given to the public were:
• Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV (Beijing Institute of Biological Products)
• Sinovac CoronaVac
Both grow SARS-CoV-2 in cells, then chemically inactivate it (usually with beta-propiolactone) so it cannot replicate. The intact viral proteins still trigger an immune response. A third inactivated shot from Sinopharm’s Wuhan institute was also used. These accounted for the large majority of doses in mainland China. 
China also approved an adenovirus-vector vaccine (CanSino Ad5-nCoV) and protein-subunit vaccines, but those were far less common than the inactivated ones.
China did not authorize Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna mRNA vaccines for general use in mainland China. Foreign mRNA shots were kept out; a domestic mRNA candidate (CSPC SYS6006) only received emergency-use approval in March 2023, after the main rollout and after zero-COVID restrictions ended. 
Inactivated vaccines are an older, well-established platform (similar to some polio and hepatitis A shots). They require two primary doses plus boosters and showed lower efficacy against infection than mRNA vaccines, especially against later Omicron variants, though they still reduced severe disease and death in many studies.

Under the current framework, a company can simply hire its own panel of scientific experts to self-affirm that a new, lab-created compound is safe, allowing them to introduce it into mainstream food products without ever receiving formal, independent pre-market approval from the FDA.

By utilizing this self-determination pathway and filing a voluntary notification to which the regulator responded with “no questions” The EVERY Company avoided years of bureaucratic delays. Because final labeling mandates remain contractually confidential or obscured under generic terms, consumers are left completely unaware that their morning protein bar or favorite salad dressing is a product of cellular agriculture rather than nature.
