Most service business owners file their 2025 tax return and put it in a drawer. The bottom-line number gets all the attention. The decisions that produced it get none.

Three deductions show up missing on service business returns more often than any others: the Augusta Rule, accountable plan reimbursements for S-corp owners, and vehicle expenses set up the wrong way.

There is a tax rule named after a golf tournament that can save business owners around $7,000 a year. It is called the Augusta Rule, and it has been in the tax code since 1976.

Rob was honored to be invited as a panelist at the POMA/TriState Investors joint meetup in Evansville last week. Alongside a commercial lender and a real estate attorney, the panel covered tax strategy, entity structure, and what real estate investors should be thinking about as they scale.

Thank you to POMA and TriState Investors for hosting.

The April 15th tax filing deadline is just around the corner.
Now is a good time to round up your documents and make sure everything's in order.
If you need more time, you can file an extension. Just remember that an extension to file isn't an extension to pay. If you think you'll owe, estimate that amount and get it in by the 15th to avoid penalties.
