Before you decide to elect S-Corp for the tax savings, you need to understand that there are added costs to being an S-Corp.
Payroll, payroll returns, a business tax return, etc - all added costs. And the benefits MIGHT not be worth it for you. Plus, if you do it wrong - you're now out of compliance and opening yourself up to thousands in penalties and fines.
This is why you don't take tax advice from other business owners who don't know wtf they're talking about.

Quick tax hack for ya - Nevada's got some sweet tax perks that most local business owners aren't using.
Helped a buddy with his shop in Henderson last month and found him an extra $31K just by tweaking how his business is set up.
Not kidding!
Nevada's more than just "no state income tax" (though that's pretty awesome too). There's a bunch of other money-saving tricks that work specifically here.

Look, generalist CPAs are fine. For employees. People with a W-2 and a mortgage, great, call a generalist.
You own a business? Don't do that. You need someone who actually knows what they're doing with a business. Owner payroll, entity structure, how to set up benefits that make people want to work for you and don't kill you on taxes. Real stuff.
A generalist doesn't know that stuff. You know why? Because he's got 1,500 returns on his desk and maybe 300 are businesses. He's not learning anything new. He's surviving. That's not who you want handling your money
