Social Security was designed to replace roughly 40% of your pre-retirement income. Not 80. Not 100. Forty.

May in Encinitas. The mornings are getting warmer, the sunsets are getting longer, and the parking at Moonlight is getting worse.

This is the part of the year when I'm reminded why most of my clients aren't planning to retire somewhere else. They want to stay right here — morning walks on the coast, coffee on the 101, weeknight dinners in Cardiff.

It's been said that people spend more time planning a two-week vacation than they do planning the 20–30 years after their last paycheck.

No judgment. It's a big thing to think about, and it's easy to push it down the road.
