Happy Thursday friends! I wanted to take this opportunity to share what tax season 2026 has looked like for our office. It’s been one for the books that’s for sure. 😜
- changes - many changes that we’re seeing benefiting many of our clients (thank goodness) 💜
- starting early February we’ve had the stomach bug, flu, sinus infection, bronchitis and pink eye pay visits to several of us - I’ve (Melissa) been the lucky recipient of all of them 👎🏼
- a child of ours having surgery to remove a gallbladder one week to finding out after a trip to the ER the following week that mine also needs to vacate - that will wait until after tax season, we hope🤞🏼
- other life events like children in school and all that comes with that (some not fun at all) to another child getting their own first home (YAY) to other kids visiting from college to extended family things… the list goes on and on… I think my point is made 😘
I’m sure some are asking why I’m sharing all of this. 🧐 My simple answer is I don’t owe an explanation to anyone of how things work in our office. At the end of the day the decisions are mine and I make them out of the best interests for our team and ultimately our clients.
On the flip side of that I also believe in full transparency. I want our clients to know and understand what we’ve been working threw this season. I want each of you to know that you are very important to us and that will never change! There have been additional delays as a result of all that I have mentioned here. Delays that none of us are enjoying, it’s just a nature of the beast with all that has come with this season. We are also human and working around the clock at times to play catch up.
Did you know that I am personally directly involved with 90% of the returns that are done from our office? Did you know that my name is on every return that goes out of our office? That is a responsibility not taken lightly for me. We work very hard for every one of our clients. A tax return is not simple data entry. A tax return from the most basic to the most complex is done after years of secondary collegiate education, professional education and designations and continual annual education where we do above and beyond the required course load every year.
In conclusion I’d like to thank, from the very bottom of my heart, every single one of our clients. Past, present and future. We appreciate each and every one of you for trusting in me, my coworkers, our team to be not only your Tax and Accounting Professionals but also your friends in navigating through your tax, financial and business needs. Thank you! 💜
As a reminder, anything received in full to our office by April 1st is guaranteed to be completed and ready to efile by the deadline of April 15th. After April 1st we will certainly try our best but cannot guarantee completion by the deadline, but we will certainly file extensions as needed for no additional charge.
Ok, back to taxes now! Have a great day Smith & Harding family!
