Happy Easter, friend and family. Wherever you find yourself today, we hope you are blessed with the love of God and knowledge of the precious gift of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection.

The circumstances we have found ourselves in the last six months have made that gift more important than ever in our lives. We are still here, despite multiple health challenges and issues. We are blessed to have supportive friends and family who have prayed for us and encouraged us.

Russ continues to improve. We are now at the next stage of treatment for the cancerous tumor removed from his leg and the beginning the treatment for the other cancer in his lung. We have some important decisions to make and would appreciate your prayers for wisdom.

I was released last night from another 3 day hospital stay. This was second time in March I was in the hospital for 3 days, 4 if you count the day in the ER each time. It is also the 3 time I have been treated for this same infection in the last two months. I will be starting rounds of appointments for evaluations to determine the cause of this and other medical mysteries my body has decided to impose upon me. Appreciate your prayers for wisdom for the doctors and healing.

In all of this, we are both grateful for the goodness of God, His presence, healing and provision. Happy Easter! HE IS RISEN!!

Happy New Year, everyone! May 2024 be a year of blessings, growth and encouragement for all of you!

I was reading a post by my friend, Kay Kay McCarter Pflueger (an excellent writer!) about the trend to choose a word for the new year rather than make resolutions. Remembering how bad I am at keeping resolutions, I thought maybe I should do this. But what word would it be? I pondered and prayed for a moment, then decided to table it and move one. Scrolling down to the next post, I saw the word, CERTAINITY in bright yellow letters on a black background. The post was an ad for a research service for my occupation and had, of course, nothing to do with my situation. Or did it?? Since there are no coincidences with God (or only ones that appear to be, when He chooses to remain silent), I stopped and thought about it. As I stared at the screen, I said that is it, that's my word for 2024.

As many of you know the last few months of 2023 (actually most of this year) have been filled with uncertainty for me and my family. With Russ' cancer diagnosis and emergency open heart surgery, concern over the potential early arrival of our granddaughter, my own health battles with temporary limited eyesight earlier this year, the constant postponement of tax deadlines, uncertainty has tried to rule over our lives.

BUT, God has been good! And we have CERTIANTY, He will continue to be so, now and in the future. Russ is still here, despite having nearly 100% blockage in his heart. He is getting the best treatment at UCSD. We have made it financially and will rely on God to continue to provide for us. In the words of 2 Corinthians 4:8 and 9 and 16-18:
8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

We are pressed and perplexed, we are sad and sometimes question, but we know God has us in His hands.

God will never abandon or forsake you. We have CERTAINTY in His care for us.

God bless you all with His peace!
