A few years ago I sat across the table from a couple two years away from retirement. On paper, they looked great. They had a pile of money, a bunch of assets, and had done all the right things. But they had one major problem: they had no idea how they were actually going to live. They weren't broke or irresponsible. What they were missing was an income plan. Almost everything they owned, except about $50,000, was in the stock market, all at risk, all dependent on market performance, and almost nothing was designed to produce consistent, predictable income. If the market took a major hit right as they retired, or a couple of years after, it could be devastating. When I asked their number one objective, they answered at the same time: "We want income, and income we can rely on." They wanted to travel and enjoy life, not worry about whether the market would cooperate. He had no pension. Like most people, their pension was replaced by a 401(k), so all the risk is on them.

Taxes can be predictable if you plan for them. Most people delay Roth conversions because they fear the taxes, but taxes aren't the enemy, uncertainty is. A Roth conversion makes sense when you control the timing and the tax bracket you're paying in. Instead of converting randomly, build a strategy. First, pull your last two years of tax returns and identify your marginal tax bracket. Then calculate how much room you have before the next bracket, and convert only the amount that fills that gap. Do it every year, intentionally, instead of once a year in panic. With the right planning, tax mitigation strategies may help offset the tax on the conversion, and potentially more of your tax liability. Write down the dollar amount you'd like to convert this year, then let's see if we can offset it. Precision beats procrastination.

Let's let math decide, not tradition. Real estate has been the default wealth builder for decades, but it requires debt, management, tenants, toilets, maintenance, repairs, and property taxes. Bitcoin only requires custody. The real question is leverage and scalability. We use life insurance as a capital account to leverage into Bitcoin monthly returns, and Bitcoin with time and accumulation is kind of the new real estate. This weekend, spend a few minutes building two side-by-side projections in one spreadsheet: one labeled "Real Estate," one labeled "Bitcoin." Once you see the numbers for yourself, you'll likely want to allocate future capital based on math, not emotion.

Income changes behavior. Appreciation kind of feeds the ego. When you hear "dividends," you used to think of stocks. Now it can mean digital assets. When structured correctly, you can produce Bitcoin with monthly distributions instead of waiting years for appreciation, and that changes your psychology from hope to actual cash flow. Income gives you options. Appreciation builds your net worth. The best part: you don't have to decide between growth and income. Our platform is designed to deliver both, and you receive Bitcoin monthly, not quarterly, not annually. We track every payout for you in the Yieldz app, right on your phone, with a daily digital income log for each one.

Production beats speculation every time. Most people buy Bitcoin and hope and pray it goes up, which is more or less speculation. Producing monthly Bitcoin income is different. When you're part of the network, energy is converted into Bitcoin, your cost of a Bitcoin is your cost of energy, and you're paid monthly in Bitcoin. You're producing Bitcoin instead of chasing it. That means constantly acquiring new Bitcoin, which can reduce volatility and average your cost. Start by calculating your average monthly investment into Bitcoin or any crypto. Then, instead of market-buying this week, learn how the YLDZ token, which owns the yield on a Bitcoin data center, works. It's for accredited investors, and it's a real game changer in how you acquire Bitcoin. One way to fund it: overfund a cash value life insurance policy, then use that policy as leverage to buy the token.

Everyone's chasing high returns, but almost nobody's asking what is actually safe. The safest asset isn't your 401k, your rental property, or your stock portfolio. It's control. When you control the asset, you control the cash flow, the tax treatment, and the leverage. This is how wealthy families park capital in vehicles that protect their principal first, then use that capital to acquire higher-performing assets. Step one: review every asset you own and label it "controlled by me" or "controlled by the market." Step two: open a properly structured cash value life insurance policy designed for cash value, not to maximize the death benefit. Step three: use that policy as collateral to acquire income-producing assets. Today, list your assets and find where you have zero control.

Timing matters. When someone calls me at 62 and says "help," there's only so much runway left before they want to retire. We can make sure they have the best outcome possible, but time is powerful. The alternative most people their age are offered comes from traditional financial planning, so be cautious. You're likely to be told to live on only 4% of your assets. With a million in assets, that's $40,000 of income, and by the time you pay taxes and fees there's hardly anything left. Then you have to pray the market cooperates and you don't suffer massive losses in the first years of retirement. And finally, hope you don't live too long. Isn't that terrible? Way too many people will run out of money before they run out of life. That's not a plan. That's a roll-the-dice gambling strategy.

Instead of hoping markets cooperate, Ysurance is designed to create monthly cash flow while building long-term wealth with tax advantages. It's a trifecta. Properly structured life insurance is the foundation: the capital, the safety, where we store our safe money, accessible, liquid, and able to be leveraged. That capital can then be paired with cash-flowing assets, including YLDZ data center income paid monthly in Bitcoin, designed to produce monthly income and take advantage of long-term Bitcoin appreciation. You're not forced to choose between income and growth: Ysurance is engineered to do both, with monthly income plus the compounding of wealth behind the scenes. When done properly, much of that income can also be tax advantaged. This is how institutions, family offices, businesses, and hedge funds think. They don't ask, "How little can I live on?" They ask, "How much income can I engineer?" So when people tell me, "When I retire, I'll only need $50,000 or $75,000 a year," that mindset is the problem. Why aim for barely enough when you could aim for abundance?

The ultra-wealthy don't work because they have to. They work because they want to. They have optionality, and the truth is you don't need billions to think that way. You just need income that exceeds your lifestyle. I recently heard two financial commentators say, "Make sure your house is paid off before you retire." Why? That advice only makes sense if your income is limited. Way too many people have a third or more of their total net worth tied up in a home that doesn't produce income. It's the same old financial planner mindset: reduce your expenses, shrink your lifestyle, live on rice and beans, then cross your fingers and hope your money lasts. Forget that. I don't mind having a mortgage, because as long as my income dwarfs my house payments, great.

A podcast host asked me, "What's the best way to plan for retirement?" My answer: get wealthy, build more passive, tax-advantaged income than you'll ever need, then retire whenever you feel like it. Most people think about it completely backwards. They pick a date or an age, then figure out the smallest amount of income they need to survive. That's not retirement planning, that's looking for ways to live the most scarcity life, and nobody wants that. How about this instead? Build assets, build income, build wealth. When your passive investment income exceeds your current income, you're financially free, and then you decide whether you want to keep working or even want a job.
