I spoke to an immigration lawyer in Canada. I got a lot of good information and would like to share with my fellow DACA holders.

I spoke to attorney Hussein Zarif with Canada by Choice. I paid a $170 consultation fee that will go towards all legal fees. My wait time for an appointment was 2 weeks.

You can obtain a student visa in Canada and the requirements are:
-High school diploma/GED
-20k in your bank account
-College Tuition in Canada can run at 10k for 1 year
-You can apply for residency after 1-2 years I can’t remeber the exact time he said.

If you are in the medical field you are in high demand, also construction workers!

Agricultural work is in high demand so if you apply for a job and ask them to sponsor you it is highly likely you will get a work visa.
-Speaking both English and Spanish puts you in even higher demand.
-Work visas are for 2 years and you can apply for residency after that.
-You don’t have to have a high school diploma or GED.
Hussein told me in his area alone they give 50,000 visas a year to agricultural workers.

If you work at a corporation in the states and they have chains in Canada you can request a transfer e.g: McDonald’s, Walmart, Starbucks.

Speaking French is so high in demand as long as you speak level 5 French you can get a Visa. You can live anywhere in Canada not just where they speak French.

If you have family in Canada you can claim asylum but speaking to a lawyer and obtain all the correct paperwork and information before doing anything.

Visa cost is $1,800.00,
-If you get sponsored by an employer they will cover moving cost.

The fastest you can get a visa is 7 weeeks!!! (I was in disbelief when he said that, obviously it depends on all the factors)

I highly recommend booking an appointment with Hussein or any other immigration lawyer.

DACA Renewals:

DACA renewals are currently taking longer than usual, taking months instead of the usual days or weeks.

As a reminder, submit your renewal at least 150 days before the expiration date. It’s better to lose a few months on the current DACA than risk being with an expired DACA.
