Hello everyone and happy tax season! 😁While all of you collect your tax documents that are coming in i thought I'd give you some important information:

There is an extra $6,000 standard deduction for ages 65 and older.

If you have overtime you need your last pay stub. Your W2 will not give a break down of overtime pay. That is not required until next year. Qualified overtime does not include holiday overtime. If you are single you cannot claim over $12,500 in overtime pay and for Married filing joint it is $25,000. It also begins to phase out once your income hits $150,000.

If you have unemployment compensation for NYS you need to go into your online account for your statement. It is not usually mailed anymore.

You do not need to prove heath insurance anymore, unless you have a 1095 A form. That needs to be reported for the premium tax credit.

Happy Tax Season! Here are this year's standard deductions! Also your W2s should be coming to you now!

Are you looking to start a business and have heard about getting an EIN and not sure where to start? This video here from the IRS gives a good explanation. An EIN is used for many things-tax returns, bank accounts and certain suppliers for your business may want you to have one as well.

July 2025 - The recently enacted “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” may have changed the information presented on this video. The IRS is currently working to updat...

Beware of the latest IRS scam! If you are ever audited by the IRS you will never be prompted to download instructions. You will only be notified by mail and will have a personal auditor to communicate with over the phone or in person. Documents will not be uploaded. You will mail them to the office or have an appointment with the auditor for review.

Watch out for a scam email that may read, ‘Notification of IRS Audit & Investigation.’ The email may direct you to download a “secure” file (in some cases via sites like Cognito Forms) and submit documentation, but in fact the link leads to a fraudulent site that may steal your data or install malware. Tax day will be here in about 9 days! If you don't feel ready you can always file an extension. If you think you will owe or do typically owe, you do need to pay in with your extension as it is an extension to file-not to pay.

The tax filing deadline is creeping up - April 15 is only 10 days away! If you need more time, you can request an extension of time to file. But it's important to note that an extension to file is NOT an extension to pay. Learn more here: https://ow.ly/ttXz50VpUU8
