Social media has y’all confused about child support vs. who can claim a child on taxes — so let’s clear it up with FACTS, not rumors.

📌 IRS FACT (yes, a real rule):
A biological or legally divorced parent who provides MORE THAN 50% of a child’s financial support may qualify to claim the Child Tax Credit (CTC/ACTC) — even if the child did NOT live with them.

👀 BUT READ THIS PART CAREFULLY ⬇️
✔️ The custodial parent (child lives with them) must agree NOT to claim the child for that tax year
✔️ This is done using an official IRS form that must be signed and attached to the return
✔️ The non-custodial (absent) parent can ONLY claim:
• Child Tax Credit (CTC/ACTC)
❌ They CANNOT claim:
• Earned Income Credit (EIC)
• Head of Household
• Childcare credits

📌 Absent parent = parent does NOT live in the child’s home.

💡 YES — both parents can benefit in the SAME tax year
💡 YES — the custodial parent can revoke permission in future years
