UPDATE on the Child Tax Credit Letters from the IRS!
Letter #6419 that is supposed to tell you how much you received in the advance payments of your Child Tax Credit, may be wrong. Part of the problem is that the letters are dated December 14th and the last payment was sent out on December 15th so the December payment may not be included in the amount on your letter.

If you know how much you received, then use that. If you do not know, go to ChildTaxCredit.gov and you can get the real amount. You'll have to answer some verification questions but the amount will be correct. Don't risk using the wrong amount because that could hold up your refund for quite some time as the fix can be time consuming.

July 15th is almost here and those of you with children will be getting a check or direct deposit for 1/6th of half of your child tax credit for 2021. For children under 6 the whole amount of the credit is $3600 and for children over 6 it is $3,000.
It's important to remember that when tax time comes, you won't be getting as much of a refund as usual. If that bothers you, you can always go to https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/advance-child-tax-credit-payments-in-2021 and opt out of getting the monthly payments.

The Internal Revenue Service is having a hard time hiring enough staff to help it get through this year’s extended tax season and overcome its backlog of unprocessed tax returns.

If the company you work for is not withholding your social security and medicare taxes from your paycheck, make sure you save that money. You will have to pay it at tax time. The amount is 7.65% of your gross income.

This is not a freebee. You will have to pay it back!

During this trying time, we have chosen to work from home. We are lucky in that we have the tools we need to do that. We have a portal and we have e-signing capabilities.

Just to make things less confusing, they just moved the tax return due date to July 15th, 2020

They had already said you had up to July 15th to make your tax payment without penalties, but hadn't changed the date the return was due. Both are now due on July 15th.
