Just a heads up if you are expecting a refund to verify that your bank account information is correct for direct deposit.

During the 2026 filing season, the IRS implemented Executive Order 14247, which generally directs federal agencies to transition toward electronic payments to improve security and reduce fraud. While more taxpayers received refunds via direct deposit, many—such as unbanked, lower-income, elderly, and overseas taxpayers—faced challenges accessing this option.

The EO allows for exceptions when electronic payments aren't feasible, but the IRS did not establish clear procedures, leading to confusion and refund delays of 6 weeks or more. As of April 27, about 4 million notices were sent for returns lacking valid direct deposit info, instructing taxpayers to update their details online or request a paper check waiver. We made it! Hello, April 16th!

The first official tax season of Hagan & Associates, CPA, PC is in the books!! All I is can say is thank you Jesus for my amazing team and for the wonderful clients that we get to serve!!

Most of the team was working from home in their pjs last night, but some of us have to keep the office looking alive. 🤣 I will say this though - the whole team crushed it this tax season and they all hung in to the end last night!! We are blessed at Hagan & Associates!

Our office will be open today, but our staff will be enjoying a well deserved 3 day weekend. Our office will be closed tomorrow and will reopen at 9:00 Monday morning.
