Why your business looks profitable on paper, but feels tight in the bank. 📊🤔

It’s one of the most frustrating feelings in business: Your Profit & Loss statement says you had a five-figure month, but your actual bank balance tells a completely different story.

If you are running your business on an accrual basis, this happens because of a disconnect between Revenue and Cash Flow. Your P&L counts the money the moment you send an invoice. But you can't pay your team or your vendors with an invoice.

Weekly Tip: Log into your accounting system today and run an Accounts Receivable (A/R) Aging Summary report.

Look closely at the 60-day and 90-day columns. If those columns are full, your cash flow is evaporating into old invoices. Here is how to tighten up your system:

1️⃣ Automate the Nudge: Turn on native, automatic invoice reminders in QuickBooks Online. Let the software do the awkward chasing for you at the 7, 14, and 30-day marks.

2️⃣ Tighten Your Terms: If you’re still offering Net 30 out of habit, try switching new clients to Net 15 or "Due upon receipt."

3️⃣ Offer Smarter Payment Options: Make sure bank transfers (ACH) and credit cards are turned on directly inside the invoice so clients can pay you in one click.
