Our Basepoint Wealth and Basepoint Tax team members traded their desks for work gloves today as part of the annual United Way Day of Caring across Eastern Iowa.

We were honored to support both Central Furniture Rescue and Prairiewoods by helping prepare community gardens for the growing season, planting vegetables, building raised beds, and delivering furniture to local families in need.

The collective impact across our community was inspiring:
• 1,584 volunteers
• 7,875 volunteer hours served
• 210 project teams completed
• 58 companies partnering with 61 nonprofit agencies
• More than $284,000 in estimated economic impact

A heartfelt thank you to our team members for showing up, working hard, and supporting organizations that make such a meaningful difference in our community every day.

Basepoint staff donated critical funds for the important work of the Ecumenical Community Center (ECC) of Cedar Rapids. Basepoint Tax President Ron Detweiler, who has served as a longtime ECC board member, and Director of Public Relations Shelley Woods, met with ECC's Chief Operating Officer Robin Brunner to present the gift.

ECC helps vulnerable community members through unexpected hardships and helps them find and regain stability. In the first nine months of 2024, ECC supported 1,680 community members with financial assistance, personal items, clothing, food, and referrals to other area agencies.

The Basepoint Wealth team is honored to close out 2024 with a donation to the Linn Community Food Bank, inspired by Basepoint Wealth Advisors Emeritus Chris Blanchard and Ron Malick. Chris and Ron volunteer their time and serve on the board of LCFB. Basepoint President Kate Wallace adds, “Community giving is an important cornerstone of our firm, and helping to contribute to basic needs such as food security is an incredibly impactful way to give back."
