When my oldest son left for the Navy, I thought I had prepared him for everything…

Making sure he had opportunities: tennis, wrestling, chess club, Jr. ROTC, and eventually going into the navy as an engineer. And now, he’s thriving as a new homeowner.

Now, I’m doing the same for my younger two. Boxing, baseball, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, softball, and teaching them life skills at home.

I don’t always get it right. But if my children can grow up knowing how to take care of themselves, their money, and their future... I’ll be at peace.

Legacy isn’t just about what you leave behind. It’s about how you live while you're here.

My daughter often asks if I'll make it to her game.
My response is always 'yes'

She doesn’t know how many client calls I’ve postponed or how many meetings I’ve moved around.
She just knows that when she looks in the bleachers, I’m there.

Legacy isn’t always loud.
Sometimes, it looks like folding a camp chair and cheering from the sidelines even when your head is full of bills, strategy, and tomorrow’s problems.

But if showing up for her is the one thing I get right… I’m okay with that.

My son takes boxing and guitar lessons.
Discipline in one hand. Creativity in the other.

Some weeks, he gets frustrated.
The combos don’t land. The chords don’t sound right.
And I remind him: mastery doesn’t mean perfection, it just means you keep showing up.

That’s how I see legacy, too.
It’s not just about money or assets.
It’s about the quiet effort. The follow-through. The belief that the work you’re doing today will matter long after today ends.

And sometimes, those lessons show up in boxing gloves and guitar strings.

Sometimes it’s the only time I’m outside.
No clients. No calls. No pressure.
Just breathing.
Lately, those walks have reminded me: even small steps move you forward.
Business is quiet, but I’m still showing up.
And just like those walks, consistency, even in quiet times, is key.

At one of my daughter’s last softball game, I saw a coach pull a player aside after she struck out.
He didn’t scold her.
He didn’t say "you have to do better."
He just said, "Next time, I want you to swing like you believe it’s yours."
That hit me.
Not just for her, but for me too.
It's a powerful reminder to approach every challenge with conviction, whether it's in business, relationships, or personal growth.
