Don't procrastinate to the last day this tax season. On December 24, 2025, the United States Postal Service (USPS) finalized an amended rule regarding postmark dates. Under the new rule, the recorded postmark date will reflect the date the mail is processed at the facility, rather than the date it is received at the post office. This could be an issue for clients who file by paper and drop off at the post office close to the April 15th deadline. Please continue to encourage your clients to send their taxes via registered or certified mail to ensure proof of mailing and delivery to the IRS.
