I just want to put a warning out to my clients that the scammers are back at it again. Both my husband and I received the same recording within minutes of each other claiming to be the IRS that we had to call back right away or we would be taken into custody. As much as there are days I need the break I don't owe the IRS any money or I would not be able to renew my PTIN number every year to continue to prepare taxes. The number was 1-585-633-0401. I called them asked for their IRS number, all IRS agents have a number that begins with 1000. They questioned why I would need it. The guy had no clue. I told him I was on a recorded line and that the call was being traced and he hung up on me. Please let your parents and friends know even if I don't do their return that the IRS does not call you unless you are doing an offer in compromise with them.
