Before relying on any calculator or tax-saving estimate, make sure the source is legitimate and IRS-backed. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The IRS recently shared guidance on how to spot fake tax deduction calculators and protect your personal and financial information:

🚨 This is **NO April Fools joke** 🚨

The IRS is warning taxpayers about scams tied to the *“One Big Beautiful Bill”* and other tax changes. With all the confusion around new credits and deductions, scammers are taking advantage—especially on social media.

⚠️ Watch out for:
• Promises of “easy” or “guaranteed” refunds
• Messages claiming you qualify for credits you’ve never heard of
• Requests to click links or share personal info

The IRS reminds us they **do NOT contact you first by email, text, or social media**—that’s a major red flag. ([IRS][1])

Falling for these scams can lead to penalties, denied refunds, or worse.

🚩 “Too good to be true” refund promises on social media

🚩 Companies promising to settle tax debt “for pennies on the dollar”
Remember: The IRS will not contact you first by email, text, or social media.
