Since I've never started a small business I said I would document my journey on this page for others who are considering starting one! So what have I done so far, well I started with a ton of brainstorming (and possibly overthinking!). So far I decided on the entity type I wanted to be. I hear a lot of people talk about LLC's so just an FYI an LLC is not a taxed entity. It is more of legal protection from debts from your business being passed onto you personally. So if you want to be an LLC you will still have to decide what type of tax entity you want to be. I also got my EIN, do you know what an EIN is? This is the number that identifies your company to the government similar to a social security number. I have started to set up my business bank account. Rule #1 keep your business and personal separate at all times possible! Today while doing some more research I found the following resource that I thought was super helpful. Hello all! This is my new business page! I will be offering bookkeeping & payroll services for small businesses. I will not be doing any income tax work but do work closely with several other tax firms that we can work with together at the end of the year. I have 13 years of accounting experience and 11 of them I spent working specifically with small businesses. I can help with tax registrations, payroll tax registration, monthly, quarterly or annual bookkeeping. I can help run payroll, or do quarterly and annual payroll tax returns.
