Notice: Indiana Property Tax Credit for Seniors

Indiana offers a Property Tax Credit for Seniors (Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit) to help eligible homeowners reduce their property tax burden.

What Is the Credit?

The Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit is a property tax credit that can reduce the amount of property tax owed on an eligible individual’s principal place of residence.

Who May Qualify?

You may be eligible if all of the following apply:
• You (or your spouse) are 65 years of age or older
• You own and occupy the property as your principal residence
• Your income is $60,000 or less for Individuals or $70,000 for couples
• You have owned or occupied the property for the required period under Indiana law

Benefit Amount of up to $150

How to Apply

Eligible seniors must file an application with their County Auditor. Call the Auditor’s office at 317-745-9300
Commonly required forms may include:
• Indiana Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit application
• Proof of age
• Proof of income
• Property ownership and occupancy information
