👩‍🎓 Many students and parents are currently planning for college beginning next fall.
👨‍🎓 The excitement of college is in the air for many high school seniors. I’ve had 2 conversations this week about 2 different students with some incredible options for college. Both of those student are still undecided but both have private schools and out of state tuition as potential destinations. They both also have full ride scholarships on the table to in-state universities. The price tag of prestige can follow your child for life. Be mindful of what your intentions are.
🧑‍🎓 Make sure you’re not planning for a lifetime of debt for your child. Cash flowing an education is an excellent option. Signing your child up for a mountain of student debt for a career path that could change after 2 semesters is a recipe for disaster.
👩‍🎓 If you are certain of your plan, you and your child should separately WRITE THAT PLAN DOWN ON PAPER, and then read each other’s plan. If they align, your plan will have a much greater chance of success. If they don’t, you should work together to “get on the same page”. Just talking about it isn’t always enough. Writing it down assures the plan is complete and has clear direction. Student loans are the next worse thing to IRS debt, be very careful with how easily that debt is accumulated, and understand the consequences.
Do you have student loans that are plaguing your bottom line each month? Let’s get a plan together to get rid of them.
