A Message to All Current Students, Graduates, Parents, Staff, Alumni, and Friends of CAN Leadership Academy B**g (CAN-BONG)
Over the past few days, many people have heard discussions regarding a possible partnership and turnover arrangement involving CAN Leadership Academy B**g (CAN-BONG), formerly known as Alexandria A. Andrews Academy (Triple A), and B**g County University (BCU). As a result, some students, graduates, parents, teachers, staff members, and community leaders have understandably raised questions and concerns.
Today, I want to personally address those concerns and provide clarity.
First and foremost: CAN Leadership Academy B**g (CAN-BONG) is NOT being shut down.
The grade school remains the foundation of our nationwide educational mission and vision. Everything we have built over the years started with our commitment to providing quality and affordable education to children and young people throughout Liberia. That commitment remains unchanged.
Let me also be very clear:
No final decision has been made regarding CAN-BONG.
While discussions and consultations are currently taking place concerning a possible partnership and turnover arrangement with B**g County University (BCU), no conclusion has been reached.
No final decision has been made.
No agreement has been finalized.
No document has been signed.
Likewise, discussions are also taking place regarding CAN Leadership Academy Nimba (CAN-NIMBA), formerly Wyatt Leadership Academy, and Nimba County University (NCU). However, just like CAN-BONG, these conversations remain at the discussion stage, and no final action has been taken.
The only educational institution that has already been successfully transferred through a formal partnership arrangement is: CAN Leadership Academy Lofa (CAN-LOFA)
through our partnership with Lofa County University (LCU).
That partnership has helped expand educational opportunities in Lofa County while preserving the mission, history, legacy, and educational opportunities for students and the community.
Regardless of what future partnerships may or may not occur.
CAN Leadership Academy B**g (CAN-BONG) will continue operating as a grade school institution. The discussions currently taking place are focused on expanding educational opportunities and strengthening long-term sustainability—not eliminating elementary and secondary education.
The reason we are exploring partnerships with public universities is simple:
• To make education more available, affordable, and accessible to more Liberians.
• To strengthen educational opportunities for future generations.
• To create a stronger pathway from elementary and secondary education into higher education.
• To maximize resources and avoid unnecessary duplication of institutions.
• To support the Government of Liberia's efforts to expand quality education nationwide.
• To ensure the long-term sustainability of educational investments made by churches, volunteers, supporters, partners, and community members.
As someone who grew up in rural Liberia and understands firsthand the power of education to transform lives, every decision we make is guided by one important question:
“How can we create greater opportunities for the next generation of Liberians?”
To all of our graduates:
Your academic documents remain fully valid.
Whether your records carry the name:
• Alexandria A. Andrews Academy (Triple A)
• CAN Leadership Academy B**g (CAN-BONG)
• CAN Leadership Academy Lofa (CAN-LOFA)
• CAN Leadership Academy Nimba (CAN-NIMBA)
• Or any other CAN educational institution
your certificates, transcripts, report cards, diplomas, recommendation letters, and academic records remain authentic, legitimate, recognized, and part of the permanent historical record of the institution.
Nothing about these discussions changes the validity of your educational achievements.
To our current students:
Stay focused on your education.
Continue studying hard.
Continue dreaming big.
Your future remains bright, and your school remains an important part of our educational family.
To our parents, teachers, alumni, supporters, and community members:
Thank you for your trust, support, encouragement, and prayers over the years. These conversations are being guided by one central goal:
Creating Greater Educational Opportunities for Future Generations of Liberians.
Whatever decisions are ultimately made will be done carefully, prayerfully, transparently, responsibly, and with the best interests of students, families, communities, and Liberia at heart.
What began years ago as a vision to help a few children has grown into a movement impacting communities across Liberia.
Today, we continue to seek ways to strengthen that vision so that future generations can dream bigger, achieve more, and help build a stronger Liberia.
This is not about giving up on education.
This is about strengthening education.
This is not about closing schools.
This is about creating more opportunities.
This is not about walking away from our mission.
This is about ensuring that the mission continues long after we are gone.
The foundation remains strong.
The schools remain open and fully operational.
The mission remains alive.
The vision continues to grow.
And by the grace of God, we will continue building a brighter future for Liberia—one student at a time.
As we prayerfully consider the future, we are reminded of the wisdom of God's Word:
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor."
— Ecclesiastes 4:9 (KJV) And also: "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." — Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV)
These Scriptures remind us that great things happen when people work together for a common purpose and when a vision is faithfully carried forward from one generation to the next.
Our desire has always been bigger than a single school, a single community, or even a single county. Our vision is to help create greater educational opportunities for all Liberians and to leave behind institutions that will continue serving future generations long after we are gone.
Through partnership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to education, we believe we can create a brighter future for Liberia and provide even greater opportunities for current and future generations of Liberians.
