EASY OVERTIME TAX EXAMPLE
Example:
• You were paid $3,000 in overtime during 2025
• Your job pays overtime at time-and-a-half
Step 1:
Take the overtime amount ($3,000) and multiply it by 1/3
Step 2:
$3,000 × 1/3 = $1,000
What this means:
• ✅ $1,000 is the part of your overtime that can be used as a tax deduction (the portion that is not taxed)
• ❌ The full $3,000 does NOT qualify only the extra overtime portion does

The much debated Child Tax Credit finally got a Vote.

More than six months after the House passed a bill that would restore bonus depreciation, end the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) early, and expand the Child Tax Credit (CTC), the Senate finally held a vote.

The result?

The bill failed to advance with a vote along party lines.
