Just a reminder… if your refund has an offset, your first reaction should NOT be accusing your tax preparer of stealing your money or overcharging you.
Before making accusations, check the IRS offset line, your transcripts, or contact the proper agency to see where your refund was applied. Offsets can happen for things like student loans, child support, state debts, prior tax debts, and more.
Please stop trusting people enough to file your taxes, then turning around and attacking their character when something doesn’t go your way. If you don’t trust your preparer, you shouldn’t be filing with them in the first place.
A little research and communication goes a long way before disrespecting someone’s business and reputation. And when you finally find out what really happened to your refund… an apology would be nice too. 💯
