Due to the lingering effects of Hurricane Helene, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have postponed the 2024 Income Tax deadline to September 25, 2025, a wide range of tax deadlines for taxpayers throughout North Carolina. Previously, the deadline would had been May 1, 2025.

***Tax Filing Deadline Extended for North Carolina Residents***

The Internal Revenue Service has announced an automatic extension for all North Carolina taxpayers. Individuals and businesses in the state now have until Thursday, May 1, 2025, to file their 2024 federal and state tax returns. No additional forms or requests are needed to qualify for this extension.

To save you time and energy, we have compiled a list of items you will need to have in order to complete your individual income tax return:

-ID

-All forms, form 1099-Misc Income

-SSN card, Child(ren)’s Social Security Number cards, along with the date of birth

-Unemployment Benefit Statement

-Form 1098, Interest Income earned from any financial institution

-Hospital, medical, dental or other donations paid in 2022

-Bank information with account and routing number (voided check preferred)

-Obamacare Statement, form 1095-A from the Health Insurance Marketplace
